Why am I have such problems getting this done? Is my phone supposed to do something when i plug in the DKU-5? And why am I getting errors when I try to install the drivers? I get this problem installing drivers for the "PORT 1 on Nokia (COM 6)" in device manager, and nothing I do seems to fix the problem, nor are there any drivers for THAT. This is ridiculously frustrating. I've been trying for DAYS to update my software, but my phone nor the computer wants to cooperate.

i don't think a dku-5 works with the E61? I have a CA-53 and i had to do it a many number of times (installing/reinstalling...etc) to get the updater to work.

I figured that after much research...I think when I bought the phone, I recieved the wrong cable. I'm currently contacting the seller (2k1s from this forum actually) to see if maybe by accident he gave me the wrong cable. It's just been so frustrating that I can't get this thing to work. Is the phone supposed to "light up" or active something when I plug it in? Or only when it's plugged into the PC and the PC recognizes it?

When I had the e61, when I first plugged it in the phone would immediately ask me whether it should be in pc suite mode, mass storage mode, or ip passthrough mode. That was true with the cable that came with my 6682 (DKU-5, I think) and the cable I got with the e61, which was the CA-53.

Oh man! One whole week of trying to get this phone to connect to my PC, and I have the wrong freakin cable! Ugh! I really thought there was something wrong with my phone.

It should work either way, but the DKU-5 is an absolute ***** to keep in place properly. You have to treat the phone gingerly when it's connected because the connection is not snug like it is with the CA-53.

If you're sure you've got a good connection on the phone end and you don't get the menu asking which mode to go into (and you don't have it set not to ask!), there's something broken in the phone or cable.

the phone won't respond at all. I really hope I wasn't sold a broken cable, or even worse a broken POP PORT. What's the chances that a pop port is broken? How would I know? It looks fine to me...and I don't see any missing parts. The cable I have only seems to have half the pins, but I think that's normal for this kind of cable. I just ordered a CA-53 (freakin waste of $25, should've come WITH THE RIGHT DAMN CABLE). If it doesn't work, I may ask for a refund. That's that.

Yeah, it doesn't have all the pins, which is normal. Try the headset and make sure it works, although those use different pins on the pop port, you'll at least know the port isn't broke.

Also, I found it a lot easier when using the DKU-5 to connect the USB end to the computer first, and only then connect the phone, at which point it would beep and ask which mode to enter. Make sure that the phone is set to ask which mode to use when the USB cable is connected, otherwise it might appear like it's not working.

If it's set to go into a mode other than usb mass storage, it won't automagically work, but if it is, it will work without any cable drivers or anything.

Settings->Data Cable

If you set it to "Ask on connection," it should ask any time it senses the data cable has been plugged in.

If it is set that way, wait for your CA-53 before you lose all hope. It took me a lot of work to get the DKU cables to seat properly in the pop port.

still not able to update???
