Just to clarify, I bought a launch console, and it fucked up (ring of death, etc) this past June. Called M$, and after a bunch of cursing, paid 129 to send it in for repairs as the warranty had just expired like a week before. As it turns out (and as everyone knew from the beginning), the launch consoles were shitboxes, so they refunded my repair cost.

When I was at Target over the weekend I noticed the demo console had the semi-circle of death also.

My 360 manufactured 2/14/06 just died last week so I took it in an got a new one from Gamestop.

You can also buy the 2 yr warranty through MS for like 59.99 and you can renew it at the end of the 2 years and so on.

Basically lifetime coverage for the 360 if'n it ever breaks on you.

I got only $104.93 back. How the heck do they come up with these numbers? Warranty work was $125 for my core system. Supposedly the supervisor I spoke with will call me back in 48 hrs after he gets an e-mail response from the rebate dept. It's been 24 hrs so far.
