I just put a new roll of film in my camera but didn't rewind it before opening it.

Is it ruined? I just put a new roll of film in my camera and I did not take any pictures. I didn't think that the film wrapped itself in the film roll part of the camera, so I opened it thinking it was still like it came out of the box. Did I ruin the film even though there were no pictures on it?
I shut the backing as soon as I realized and the light in my room is rather dim...
The type of film is fujifilm 800.
I rewound the film before I opened it again...
