I Just Learned The PH Level In My Garden Is Low?

If you had a proper soil analysis done it will make recommendations on what to add to your soil. Soil analysis usually cost under $10 and are done by local ag depts or county cooperative extensions.
Ideal soil pH is usually in the 6 - 7 range
Adding one pound of lime to ten square feet of soil raises the pH about 1.

Depends what is meant by "low".

7.0 is neutral. Higher is alkaline, lower is acidic.

If you're between 5.5 and 6.5, praise Gaia. Most garden plants will thrive.

If it's lower than that, there are still plants that will do well. Blueberries love freakishly acidic soil. And as the other poster mentioned, potatoes get less scab problems if grown in acidic soil.

DON'T add lime unless you know what your ph is. I mean, a number, not just "low". And don't try to change it if it's still within range of most garden plants' needs.

You need to add garden lime
Problem is it needs two months to break down into the soil before you can plant
Alternative is to make raised beds and ask any local farmer for some
'dumped ' soil (they are usually willing to get rid of it)
You can grow potatoes in a low PH level and they are happier with that
they don't like high PH)
Aubergines, peppers and tomatoes should be ok as long as you've plenty of warmth
Lettuces and salad veg are also ok just watch for slugs
Don't add weedkillers or manuring this year wait until autumn
then let it all settle in for spring planting next year
