i just got the htc pure and cant figure out how to use the sideways keyboard.?

how do you get to it? i am really confused. i want the full qwerty keyboard, but sideways and i cant figure it out! please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! explain in detail how to get to it. oh and i know its the full keyboard when you write a new message, but when u reply in the thread, how does it work? thnx
