I just got screwed by the police

as far as i'm concerned, when on the bike, if i'm really SPEEDING, i just keep going. Dangerous? Stupid? sure.

Some jerkoff called the cops on me for splitting lanes, because he and another genius utah driver were going 5 under the limit side by side. It's not my fault people here don't know how to use a "passing" lane. I saw the police officer miles later, and forgot all about what i had done earlier, and so he pulls me over (yes, i stopped), and asks me questions, all of which i deny. He then tells me he's a bike owner, and since he has nothing on me, other than going the same speed as everyone else, i get a ticket for 74 in a 65. So far, i have had to go to 2 counties, and take time off work, and go back on the 28th... Garbage. All i had to do was speed up and take an exit, and i'd be home free. As far as i'm concerned, other people, and sometimes the police, have it out for you. If i smash into a car at 165 mph, I'm dead, and the driver is unhurt. My insurance covers the damage to his car. I just wish people would let me speed a little, and leave me alone.

I know how you feel, just got a ticket driving my car about a week ago. Cop said I was doing 80+. I'm going to fight this one to the end cause I know I was no where near 80 mph when I change lane after he was on my ass for about a 1/4 mile with no one else on the freeway other than the car next to me.. He also said that he got me on camera speeding and so furth.

918on1098 - you stated police officers are allowed to violate the rules of the road when providing due safety towards others...

THERE ARE STILL DEPARTMENTAL REGULATIONS THAT APPLY. You've just deflected the subject and the point. Let's say the main body of traffic is travelling at... 65 in a 55 mph zone. A police officer is driving - through the traffic at speeds of 90 mph to reach the site of a severe accident, etc. HIS LIGHTS AND SIRENS BOTH SHOULD BE ON. Don't twist my point. I didn't say police officers can't violate traffic regulations - but they do so frequently WITHOUT PROPER CAUSE and WITHOUT REGARD for additional laws and regulations that further restrict such actions.

It's also funny how, you've now basically said all newspapers lie. I understand a stretch of the truth, but if an officer who is accused of driving while intoxicated or under the influence, has a BAC of .10, .12, etc., well... that's a fact. Why? Because another officer took the test. Look up Tuxedo Park, NY. A former police chief recently committed a felony (it was theft) - among other misdemeanors (I think it was filing a false report and more...). He didn't even receive jail time. Two of his directs also committed misdemeanors and received I think it was 150 hours of community service among other things. When a local newspaper covered the story, they were threatened by the judge. The convictions were fact, the felonies and misdemeanors they committed were facts and the disproportionate lack of punishment they received was also a fact. But I supposed the town is lying too, right?

You are awfully narrow-minded. And you don't like it when others view such things in such a strong, biased fashion. - That is how almost all cops are - self-righteous and self-protecting. - And don't tell me that isn't the reality because it is... It's human nature. We all protect ourselves to different extents. The only difference between cops, politicians, those who support those in power and Joe public, is that we don't have the enforcing body of support that the rest of you do - who perch on a higher pedestal. And that only gets dissolved when it becomes a contestation within that support system.

zman -and many others just provided some more examples of what I was describing - and yet, somehow... the same points I make are invalid because you don't care for the way I said it.

What I said was factual, and most of the other posts on this thread continue to support the same things I'm saying. You stated I was making a personal insult. I said you turned a blind-eye, which you obviously did and subsequently reinforced by your obtuse reply and I also said appropriately that you need your eyes and head examined.

You started levelling PERSONAL insults. Here's the line:Scotty, you obviously believe everything you see on the news or read in newspapers, which sensationalize everything to sell papers or get ratings. I've been on the opposite end of that and I know this may come as a suprise to you but, newspapers and television lie and confuse facts, I've seen it firsthand.Great, so now I'm a bloody idiot and can't read. Well, I least I'm willing to see the truth. And your comments are by far, the most ignorant and dangerous of all. - You're the one with the gun and ALL the power. We've got zilch. Zero. And their good friend, nada. Try taking those rosy colored glasses off for a bit...

OFFICERS DO VIOLATE THE LAW. AND THEY CERTAINLY DO VIOLATE TRAFFIC LAWS - INCLUDING ACTS WHICH ARE ADDITIONALLY GOVERENED BY STATE, MUNICIPAL AND/OR DEPARTMENT POLICIES. THEY DO SO KNOWINGLY, WITHOUT DUE CONCERN BECAUSE NO ONE WILL PROSECUTE THEM AND IN ANY CONTENTION, IT'S YOUR WORD THAT IS TAKEN OVER OURS BY EVERY COURT OF LAW IN THE UNITED STATES. WHY? BECAUSE YOU ARE THE - MAN - SWORN TO UPHOLD THE VERY LAWS THAT ARE BEING BROKEN.

Wow. You've once again, proven ALL of my points. However, I still wish you the very best for you and your family. I hope that you always make it home safely, from all of your rides, and from every day at your job.

this probably seems really stupid...but i'm really afraid of this. cops here tend to hate sportbikes as well (justified in some cases based on the number of morons who ride them). but i'm afraid being on this bike will attract TOO much attention. combine that with the fact that i look like i'm 22 years old (although i'm 35) and it's a recipe for TICKETS! only time will tell.

You otta live here in the great OC. The average speed here is 90, but beware if the police have a hair and decide to pull you over they have the right, your breaking the law.

To be honest- I hate all cops.

I think they are all liars, cheats, and most of all bully's.
Cops are corrupt- it's part of their job.
Good cop is an oxymoron- any cop that believes in doing the right thing and upholding the law will quit after 2 or 3 years- and then they aren't cops anymore.

Gimme a break, and go get a real job.
