I just got screwed by the police

I've been lucky. Haven't been pulled over once on any of my bikes. I have a two citations in two years in my GTO (had to get yellow), but I know I could have earned many more.

I agree that there is such a thing as good cops and bad cops, just as there are good and bad people in every environment we interact in. I live near Naperville, IL which is notorious for its police. I was pulled over at 1 am on a Friday a couple of years ago by a Naperville cop. He could have made my life miserable but he gave me a light speeding ticket and told me to be careful.
 
Are Radar Detectors allowed in the US?? Cool if so. Here in Belgium some guy on a BMW X5 got caught with a detector, the judge took and sold his CAR !!!
Oh, and, he paid 3000EUR ticket and lost diving license for about 1 year.

I live like 15min away from you... Here are also nice cops... I left work and did 89 in a 25 zone... The words of the cop: if it is 45 over the you go to jail... He told me he knows how I feel and he also loves bikes... Since I had insurance and a valid License he let me go and told me to take the fast laps on the E-way... I have a lot respect for this cop, he was one of the nice ones.

I'm prolly exactly the opposite of you, in belongings of driving, fast - always over the limit, doing stupid stuff... I met a bunch of cops over the last years, some high level Illinois State Troopers with a nice "Supervisor" Sticker
on there car, Lake County, Cook County, Chicago PD, Little town cops from Wayne ( population like 300 )... I had one warning with the bike and that was my fault and I know it. And all the other time they let me or my friends go. The cops out here are not all dickheads, some are some aren't. I learned that the most of them forget things if you have all your papers. I'm sure you and me have bad days once in a while and so have them the cops. Usually if you start debating with them you are already lost...
 
Unbelievable, 64 over and you got nothing? I ride the speed limit and get 27 over, which will cost me $250 and a vacation day.

Why on earth would you ride near 90 in a 25? not the brightest thing to do.
 
Leaving work... after having a bad day? does that count as an excuse for not so bright things?

I think he was also shocked that someone does somthing that stupid... especially since he was just sitting there... in the middle of the road... well I guess I was the stupid one this time....
 
I have opinions on a few comments and one question:
- It's one ticket...seriously go riding man, are you kidding me?!
- True, you might be F'ed unless you have a good attorney. When your license is at risk and/or your driving record is that important to you, hire a heavier gun to deal with the problem. (Use some of the insurance savings from previous years A good attorney can tear a cop to shreds under ideal circumstances. Oh and what should have been my first point...don't be one of those idiots who bitches about it and doesn't appeal the ticket. You know how they say it's all about location, location, location? Well in your situation it's all about APPEAL, APPEAL, APPEAL. Work the system against itself and your odds are better my friend.
- Lastly, all cops do it. Maybe not all the time, but they aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall do it...

So now we now who the cops are........I love the police.... they make my world more safe....
I ...reddacked...........I didn't badge out and it hurt.....

I've been pulled over alot and really, I general leave with no problems; just treat the office with a little respect because its a thankless job; (It really Sucks!) and move on people.

And if want to aviod problems, be somebody when you grow up.....drop the right name at the right time and watch the magic.

Now kiss and make up everbody....lifes too short.
 
I have immense respect for what cops do...and I do not envy them one bit because they're pushed and pulled all the time. As much as I understand the pressure they are under to prosecute (some of my friends are cops)...I have been at the wrong end of that prosecution when it's weak and erroneous. Recently as a matter of fact. A trooper cited me for five moving violations that he never witnessed because I left the scene 25 minutes after exchanging papers, waiting for the police after I called 911 myself, and LEGALLY leaving a scene in which I was rear-ended. He took the 22YO-irrational-girl-who-hit-me's statement, never attempted to interview me or assess my damage, and issued blind charges including one of criminal negligence. Over $2K later (discounted) I am found NG by a jury, and only innocent of 1 of 4 civil charges when all should have been dismissed due to errors of both fact and law. It's like the judge played "eeny meeny miny moe" with my charges and arbitrarily selected the ones that sounded good. This other issue is under appeal as of today. Respect, yes. Complete trust, no.

Momma always told me not to put myself into a situation where the law has control over my life...and she was right! I elaborated on that only so you know where my cop comment came from. It's not an opinion in my case, it is a fact from direct experience. (There are a few more where that came from too) No ill-will on the board here, just setting it straight. Not here to take things too seriously!

P.S. Having the right contact got me out of a 140+/Operating to Endanger ticket...been there brother.
