I just got a 97' dodge intrepid ES and i wanna know what's under the hood...?

I have a 3.5L V6 and I wanna know how powerful it is and what is can do without dogging out the engine (214,000+ miles on it)
so what can my baby do?
and for car performance fans what would you recomend for parts?
