...system-these are both pretty costly i will get both done (of course)-just wondering which i really should do first. the brakes grind every now and then-and i'm nervous when i drive because some days i see slight smoking coming off the hood (even though the car doesn't show signs of overheating on the dash board). what to do? oh and they're talking $1000 for both to be done (roughly $500 for each)

if you can do the work.. or have someone do it for you like a friend you can have it fixed for less than a few hundred.

if it really needs a radiator they can be found cheap and they are easy to replace.

i think you have 4wheels disc right? pads and rotors are super easy to replace, less than an hour for all 4.

i'd find the leak and make sure its your radiator.. who told you it was the radiator? it could be just a leak in a hose..

you do it ALL now...because you let things get out of hand, now you have to pay more...
on a 14 yr old car, don't whine about having to get repairs...you're lucky thats all it is, for now..
so get it done.
If you can't afford to keep the car running and serviced, don't buy the car...

you can get the radiator on line 149 dollars more or less.. the brakes are going to cost more because you let them go the grinding is the pads are worn down to the rivits and gouging the drum four rotors 105 metalic brake pads front and back 42.dollars.. that is what the cost is retail.. do it yourself its not that hard you may have to buy a jack and stands 100 sears. and the radiator buy new hoses and a thermostat.. another 25dollars.. do it yourself its not difficult.. ok
