I just bought some 'glow fish' Danio's and placed them in my 20 Gallon tank

with about 5 guppies. Problems!? I just bought 2 'glow fish' Danio's today and placed them in my Guppy Tank to see how they'd do. However, they're tearing up some of the fin's of the male guppies. Will it be wise to keep them in there or move them to another tank? Plus, it seems they like to chase the guppies and nip at them on a regular basis. What should I do?
 
the problem is you only bought two. danios are schooling fish and get stressed when they're not in groups. buy at least 3 more and they should be fine.
 
Best to move them. I've had problems with fin nippers. They nip until the other fish die or drown because they can't swim anymore.x
 
get rid of the danios or separate then by using a divider sold at pet stores. sometimes they are aggressive because their numbers are small and they are intimidated by other fish around them
 
Move em.

All who remember my stories will remember that I too had a zebra danio (same thing really so same personalities) that was nippin at my guppies. I had to return em since i didnt have another tank. Good thing was that since he was mean the store replenished me with a new one for free. The new one was totally calm and nice =)

So ya u can see if u can return him or put him in another tank.
 
move them into a small 3-5 gallon tank or a big bowl and go buy them a 5 gallon tank if you dont have one. if you want to add more fish get a school of neon tetras and some more male guppies. =) maybe some african dwarf frogs!
 
That doesn't really sound good! I've never heard of Guppies hurting Danios. That just seems a little odd to me. Uhhhh I would suggest on seeing what they'll do for a little while. If any thing terrible goes on, that's your cue to get them into a new tank. If they did a huge amount of damage, go to the pet store and get some stuff for open wounds and sores. That should help. Buy at least 4 more danios, 6 would be even better. This gives them something to chase after other than guppies, and they do a lot better with good company.
