I'm wondering if i made a good decision, i've never owned a honda and it looks pretty sporty and cool, i've already put about 600 dollars worth of stuff in it, shocks motor mount, both side axels , windshield etc. just wondering if i just put myself into a money consuming headache or i got myself a nice little deal..the guy i bought it from said " I'm hooking you up, man!"....responses from people knowledged in honda only please..

Well i'd say it was a decent deal although $600 for a civic ex with that mileage and need of work does seem kind of pricey. The thing with honda is that the engine will outlast everything else, they are reliable cars if you keep up with maintenence.

As much as I think Honda's are fantastic vehicles any car, with 181K, is only going to be as good as it was maintained. If it uses no oil, (or maybe 1/2 quart between changes), you at least know somebody took care of the engine. I'd have a good mechanic check out the front CV joints and the rear bearings. I'd also take a good look at the coolant system, (hoses, water pump, etc), and look for any sign of oil in the system which might mean a gasket issue. On the positive side, $600 is just not that much money these days and if you put another $1200 into it and keep it for even two years you have come out way ahead, right?
