package of meat looks brown and? has a strong smell. it is dated 3/25. the other package is dated 3/27 and looks pink and fresh and no smell. is the package of brown meat dated 3/25 rotten? when i bought it yesterday it was pink too.

do not cook the brown one it probably went bad the pink one seems good to eat take it back and show them the reciept and the expiration and the should gove you a new package

Brown does not indicate spoilage.
Meat turns brown from oxydation and still be fresh. That can happen within hours or a day, even under proper refridgeration.

One package has been ground a couple days prior to the pink one.
Spoliled meat will be pretty rancid and unmistakable.

Those dates are sell by dates within the store's inventory.

If the pork has the least bit of a "slimy" feel. don't use it. That is a first sign of spoilage.
If you have any doubts, call the store and tell them how soon you'll be able to return it.

It sounds like it has gone bad which is terrible take it back and tell them to be more careful what they sell there customers.

In this case I would return it to the market. Ann Landers had a saying that I have always used about food. WHEN IN DOUBT, THROW IT OUT. I will never ever take a chance on food poisoning. Maybe they used a dye in it. I've heard that some people use red dye to cover old meat.
