I hope someone can help me, my husband's leg

Last week my husband hit his leg so hard that it swelled up real bad and bruised. Anyway we put ice on it almost all day 15 minutes on 15 off.

Anyway, the bruising is still there, it is dissapating and has gone down to his foot, his foot seems a little swollen but not bad, but he still has a lump on his leg where he hit it.

What can we do to take the lump down?

He said it itches because it is healing, but I am still a little worried about the lump.

Can anyone tell me what I can do? We leave for vacation in a couple of days and I was hoping it would be somewhat better by then.

Sorry about your husband's leg. I was kicked in the back of my thigh many years ago and the bruising was huge--probably 8" across. There was a very hard knot in the center of the bruise and the discoloration finally went away, but there was still a lump in the middle and it lasted over a year. I never went to see about it and I probably should have. But that was 35 years ago and I'm still going strong. Seriously, I think it should be checked out--wish I'd have been smart enough to see about mine! Good luck!
