OH no! That is absolutely awful! Poor horse. I'd like to think she didn't suffer anyways. That is such a horrible way to pass on. If anything, she saw you there. She knew you wanted the best for her. She was scared and you were the last person to see. I'm sure she knew you were trying to help.
Meanwhile, I hope the girl understands it wasn't her fault. I'd probably feel just as bad if I were in her shoes. Having an accident like that while being the one taking care of the horse would make me wonder if I had done something wrong or at least if there was anything I could have done differently to avoid such a horrifying incident. I also hope the owners understand too.
Horses are such beautiful animals. I wish I could have learned to ride them, but I'm too allergic. I do live near a lot of horse farms here, so it is nice to be able to admire them.
