I hooked up an Alpine type r 12, pioneer amp, to an alpine head unit amp

turns on no sound from sub? The rca's go from the bac of the deck to the amp ins, the amp turns on but i get nothing from the sub, all speaker wires are hooked up and all connections are double checked. Do you think the preouts on the deck went bad??
 
The type R is a dual voice coil sub, do you have it wired to 2ohms.

Is your pioneer a 2 channel amp,is it bridged?

Pioneer 2 channel amps are 4ohm stable and will trip a protection circuit if you run it at 2ohms.

Don't know which head u have but on the Alpine 9800series you have to turn the sub on.
