i hooked up a jenson cd player in my jeep. they didplay is so dull i can hardly

gotta love jensen high quality. go look at mid line pioneer decks. youll be able to see it in direct sunlight, i promise.
 
You need to check the power, ground and any connections that might be the cause.

Usually there is an Illumination (Orange) wire you might have to hook up to your lighting).

Depending on if hte CD player is new or used, and depending on if all the power and signals are good. You may even have a defective unit.

hard to say, You should try the headunit in another car or another power source if needed.
 
Pull it back out and look for either an orange wire or and orange wire with a black stripe and make sure it's not connected to anything this is the dimmer wire, and if it's grounded or connected to anything your screen will dim
