I have to take a blood test and im freaking out!?

I don't know what to do, i absolutely hate hate HATEEEE needles/injections! I have to have a thyroid check & i've told my doctor that i don't want to get it and he said its something that i need to have done because ive been to see him with some problems ive had. He understands & i understand also that i should get it done. But im so scared! It freaks me out when i see a needle. He prescribed two diazipam 2mg but they don't effect me as ive had them for going to the dentist as well! I know that i will still panic!!! Can someone possibly please give me some advice and if anyone knows how i can rid my fear of needles! Thanks
