I have to rewrite a verse from The Rubáiyát and I don't understand it?

I am rewriting
Come, fill the Cup, and in the Fire of Spring
The Winter Garment of Repentance fling:
The Bird of Time has but a little way
To fly---and Lo! the Bird is on the Wing.

It is the instructions to rewrite each line and rewrite it in informal, modern English using the iambic perimeter and aaba pattern.

As far as I can tell, the Bird of Time is a ticking clock
and "the Bird is on the Wing" means that time is passing quickly, but other than that I don't understand the poem-- and in order to rewrite it, I need to understand it any help is appreciated

Thank you :)
