I have to get away from Boost Mobile. How is Cricket?

I have been with Boost Iden side for over a year. I simply can not take having one more call to or from their customer service department. Now that Cricket is working in my area I'm thinking very hard about going over to them. I know no company has great customer service, but they have to be better then Boost.

I use the phone for about 98 percent talk, 1 percent text, and 1 percent web. I must have call waiting. I must have a phone with bluetoth. Other then that no big deal. I have been using the i335 on boost and liked it as it is a fairly tuff phone.

I can get the Cricket MSGM8 II for about $50.00 right now. I most likely will go with it. It is the cheapest phone in my area with Bluetooth.

I am open to you thoughts

As a dealer i can tell you that you should find a local dealer that is good and buy the phone from them. cricket cs is about as bad as they come but if you can find a good dealer then aside from warranty/insurance claims, they should be able to figure out most problems for you.

i'm suprised you can't get the samsung stunt. if you can, it's only $19.99 with the $45 plan and it has bluetooth. if not, the msgm8 II is pretty good. other than cracked screens from drops, we havn't gotten any back.

I agree, I have nothing but good things to say about the independent dealers here in Austin. The corp stores and phone support are not the greatest in the world.

Thank you for your help. I live in a rural area in Arizona, so no dealers out here. Closest dealers are 100 miles away one way. I can buy from them, but they can not port my nuraber over as it is a nuraber (area code, etc.) that is out of their area. At least that is what they have told me. Also in calling they do not seem to be offering any better deals then I'm finding online. If it helps my zip is 86439, area code and prefix 928 201. i have been seeing some nice phones on Ebay with WiFi "flashed" for Cricket. But I get the feeling that a flash phone like a palm or blackberry can be a pan in the but and all to easily get "un-flashed". But I'm just getting into this. I can get the Stunt, but for $30.00 more the MSGM8 seems worth the added stuff.. But I'm open to suggestions.

You can have a corporate store port your nuraber. They'll be able to do that by setting up your account with a nuraber from the same area as your old nuraber. That way local nuraber portability will work. IDK if a dealer can do that or not.

What would the advantage be of using a corporate store Vs. going though the Cricket web site. They can port the nuraber etc., and have me working and the phone in my hanRAB in 48 hours. To go to a corporate story is a 200 mile trip...

Well at 10:00 am today I needed to do something, so I called the Cricket corp nuraber I ordered a Cricket MSGM8 II , on the $45.00 month plan. I also went with the $5.00 insurance. My total for the phone, plan, first month, activation, and porting was $50.00 total with all taxes and fee's. Seemed pretty good to me. I will have the phone in hand tomorrow.

Actually, I just pulled up your ZIP code on Cricket's coverage map. You are on Cricket's partner network in your ZIP code. Cricket has just instituted a policy where they will disconnect your account if more than 50% of your usage is on a partner network rather than native Cricket coverage. Sorry, but Cricket will not work for you. This explains why there isn't a dealer in your area as well.

I have looked at the coverage map. My area that I am in most of the time is in green with the lines going though it. Zip code 86442 covers a large area. Some is a lighter green (partner coverage) But if you look at the area by Laughlin nv, it is the green with lines though it.

why dont you experience boost cdma? the phones are alot better and i can see you would have way less problems with it. what type of problems are you experiencing with iden?

I completely agree with this.

Drop Iden and go cdma. I have often heard that the difference can be night and day in most areas.

I thank you all for your suggestions, etc. God I Hate Cell Phones... Thank you, it felt good to get that off my chest. To update. I did go ahead and I bought a Cricket phone. Did it over the phone though corp web sales as no dealer within 130 miles of me. Rep had my home address, etc., and knew the nuraber i was going to port the phone to when I got it. Long story short, leaving out all the BS, and ranting.. Phone can not be set up with my home area as it's home area. Phone can only b set up with a home area over 150 miles away in another state and time zone. Also my nuraber can not be ported to the phone. And no locale nuraber can be put on the phone. Really upsetting not only due to wated time and $$$, but I really think that i would have liked the service, but I must have my nuraber ported, and phone set to my home area. The little I played with it was very nice. Good call quality. Very fast 3g Internet. But it was a no go, so I'm still with Boost. So, I'll think i will try the CDMA side. I need to re[lace the 1335 I have to do so. Looking for a cheep CDMA phone. And it looks like Boost will no longer activate a Sprint ESN on Boost. So can't go with a cheep used Sprint phone. Gee, i wish that Cricket really could provide phones set for my area.

Another alternative to boost cdma is Virgin mobile. That also runs on the sprint cdma network (same as boost) and you can get some inexpensive phones to use (jax is 10 dollars). You may want to consider that as well and see if that might work.

I looked at the web site for Virgin. The phones start at $69.00 . So I would have to switch companies, pay 60 a month instead of the 50 with boost and be on the same network that the cdma side of Boost runs on. At ten bucks a month more. Also boost has cdna phones starting at about $50.00.

So still of the mind find cheap phone and try cdma on boost. If it does not work and i need to get away fro the sprint network, then I'm out as little $$ as I can be by testing with cheap phone.
