Think about how media has changed over the years, i.e. from newspapers, radio to one station on a TV and sky plus. The way we consume media has changed and has changed what people expect from media. Its is known as push versus pull, i.e. media use to be pushed on people now they can pull what they want from it. See also the hypodermic needle theory about propaganda and advertising. There is a debate on whether or not people will be effected by media messages. John Fiske and Karl Marx are good theorists to look into.
Kids now have a lot more access to media and in isolation, i.e. in their bedrooms, what effect is this having on families and the health of kids. Think also about how they consume it i.e. on phones, internet, network gaming etc.
