This might sound weird but its just to practice designing an experiment....
What is a good hypothesis to this question
oes hot tub use by pregnant women increase the incidence of birth defects?
What would be the standardized, dependent, and independent variables? and control?
This is what i have so far:
Hypothesis: If a woman uses a hot tub during pregnancy, the chances of a baby being born with a defect are increased.
Independent Variable: Temperature of the water in the hot tub
Dependent Variable: Birth defects (testing for incidence)
Standardized Variables:
1)Women are all of the same age
2)Women are all in the same trimester of pregnancy
3)Twenty women use the hot tub three times a week for 8 weeks
4)Twenty women do not use the hot tub during those 8 weeks
Control: Women who do not use a hot tub during pregnancy
Does this sound okay?
