I have this email address of a contact. How can I get him to do online chat with me?

I understand with new YAHOO, you can do online chats with any email address you have on list. Automatically, some of my current email contacts get logged online & I chat with them. However there is one particular contact I want to instantly chat with. What have I to do?
 
Go to the yahoo homepage. Next to mail, you will see messanger. Click on it. Click Download Now and follow their instructions. Add the person by typing their yahoo email adress in the search engine on messanger. They will send him a friend request, and when he accepts you guys can chat instantly when youre both online. Give it a shot!
