I have the stock deck installed and it turns on and everything, but no sound comes out..

...of the speakers? it's an 04 ford ranger,
sometimes the speakers will work, but just for a few minutes and then they will go off, so i know the speakers aren't bad.
everything on the deck works, i can cycle through channels and what not, but no sound comes out of the speakers.
I have 2 subs and an amp installed, and i have taken the rear speakers out.
