...me what year this engine? can anyone tell me what year the engine was produced witht this information, from what i can find I think it is telling me it's a 1954 but i dont believe 302 engines were produced in that year, so if anyone can tell me which year and what I was doing wrong I'd very much appreciate it.

the code refers to a production year of 1954 the size is likely a 292 or 312 engine. these were common v8 motors for Ford in that period. if the distributor is in the rear like a chevy its this engine. this engine was used in both cars and trucks. if you believe it to be a 302 engine than perhaps the code is d4de being a 74 302? as noted b=5 or the 50's, c=6 or the 60's the falcon was produced from 1960 to 1968 and the 302 engine began life in 1968(limitted production) as to the v6 engine not till the 70's did ford offer the engine.
