Hi. I don't have cable and don't watch network TV. However, my wife and I like to watch dvd's and currently have a single desktop computer with dvd drive and a 32" HDTV hooked up to it with a standard vga cable. We'd like to build a setup that will better allow us to watch dvd's at home.
My brother gave us a two-year old "HTPC." We're considering either installing it alongside our existing desktop and using the existing tv/monitor - or buying a new tv and installing it in our master bedroom.
I don't really know anything about these things, but have a few starter questions regarding how to go about this... I'd really appreciate any help with this.
1. First off, what's a media PC - really?
2. Can we do what I said above - that is, hook it up alongside the current desktop computer?
3. Should I get an HDMI cable in any case?
4. How could I go about using the HTPC in the bedroom, if we choose not to install it alongside the desktop?
I'm sure I have a ton more questions regarding this, but I don't even know where to begin.
Thanks in advance.
