I have search for an old book i read in the 80Ty's . I can't remember the title

or author.? It was set in the old south 1800's, the main charter was a desperate to save her family's plantation. she was raped then she married a man who said he would help her but he left on their wedding night and five years later she shows up at the husbands house with her son a product of the rape. turns out she was married to the main male charters identical cousin. if any one knows the book title or the author please let me know. thanks
