Rent or borrow until you know you will stick with it. Lots of places rent musical instruments and it is far better to rent for a little while until you know you will keep playing. Electric guitars are easier to play. when you are ready to buy, check out craigslist and you can probably find an inexpensive one in pretty decent shape (probably from the guy who bought it before he knew how to play). Get a couple lessons, too. The videos online aren't bad, but its nothing like the real thing.
