I have hughes net internet and im wanting to play my xbox live?

how do i get it to work i can connect right sign in and look for an match in halo 3 but it will never connect and don't say its impossible to play with a 1 sec delay i used to play with dial up and win that was a 10 sec delay so if there's a way to get it to work let me know please will be much appreciated
