I have had chronic hives for 7 weeks. Been to so many dr's. took predanose and it made me crazy and did not work. Taking a variety of antihistimes and still not working. Please please help me. Itchy all the time. It makes me feel so sick and it is hard to stay at work during the day. They seem worse at nighttime. Please help me.

Hi Deb,
I have had hives for two months and still have them. I am not taking, Zyretc, Zantec, and Doxepine. I have only taken it for a few days, but when I do at night the itching is very little. During the day I have outbreaks. Soon I will take them meRAB during the daytime too and I pray it helps. Dr.s' have no idea what has caused them. Blood tests are negative. I had to do all the research myself.

i have been suffering from chronic idiopathic urticaria and delayed pressure urticaria for yrss. now. yes, it is horrible!! drives me insane at times. i have been to every doctor and have taken all types of meRAB. no doctor or no med has relieved me from my pain,itching,burning,swelling.fatigue,etc. i have learned for now to deal with it because i am a single mother of a 2 yr old. i will say as far as the rashes are concerned..i have a topical cordisone ointment called MOMETASONE FUROATE THAT WRKS WELL!! it is instant relief. as far as my delayed pressure urticaria, no such luck. it has gottin worse. any pressure such as walking, driving, cleaning, wrking and even heat and stress cause me to have very painful swellings....

do not take predisone!!!! it will make yopu crazy and as soon as you rid it, the urticaria gets worse. the long term side effects are aweful as well. for some people, taking an h1 and h2 blocker-doubling up on the dose per day- will help. if you have swellings as well- take an antiinflammatory. unfortunatlly doctors know little about chronic idiopathic urticaria and delayed pressure urticaria.hints the meaning.... chronic hives from an unknown orgin. its up to us to help eachother out and relate to one another. we must come together and share info and build a support group. more and more people are getting this horrible and at times disabling disease.

What are you doing with your own treatment? I will try anything. Today at fainted at work and they had to take me to emergency room. Found nothing. I am taking Doxepine, zantec and zyrtec.

Try taking the doxepin at night (as it makes you sleepy) and the zyrtec in the morning, because it doesnt.

The Zantac should be taken atleast twice a day

hun you can not rid this. ive had it for yrs now and i had a child 2 yrs ago without any meRAB. not only do i have the burning, itchy hives but i also have very painful swellings that is cause by ANY pressure applied to my body.-sitting,walking.driving,clothes,etc. also stress and heat plays a role. i have chronic idiopathic urticaria and delayed pressure urticaria. unfortunatlly the docs. dont know much about the disease and what causes it.they do know it seems to just one day dissappear.ranges 7-20 yrs.everyone is different and gets it all of sudden from different sources. i have been to several docs and have taken several meRAB. i found the topical cordisone cream called MOMETASONE FUROATE OINTMENT works quick and well. its instant relief! but you can only use it once a day and for so long. h1 and h2 blockers corabined may or may not work. if they do, all they do is mask your symtems. as far as your hair falling out...do you use a shampoo with sulfates (sls) in it? if so change your shampoo and cond. try to find one with no SULFATES,PARABINS OR FRAGRANCE. GET ORGANIC. my hair was falling out to and is better. this chemicals are linked to cancers and other things like auttoimmune disorders. like what we have. as far as your baby...go for it.. you and your little one will be fine. just dont take meRAB. u dont nd them.there is NO CURE FOR WHAT WE HAVE. LEARN WHAT MAKES IT WORSE AND WORK AROUND IT!!remeraber..dont beleive everything the docs. tell you. they dont want to get to the bottom of your problem because you wouldnt come back to them and they wouldnt make money. for every script they write, they make money!!! my suggestion is find a homeopathic doctor and do research on herbs and vitiamins!! also remeraber...stress makes it worse..lots of luv and luck...islandang

I will try the double of H1&H2 blockers. I will try just about anything, but not prednosone.

Made me CRAZY!! I wish some genius in the medical profession would find out WHY we all have this. Alot of people say it is stress, but I do not know??

Taking a long acting antihistamine every day (such as Zyrtec or the Costco brand generic which is just as good, but far cheaper) would produce virtualy no side effects, and would likely supress most of your hives.

Chronic hives like this are often due to stress. I get a rash breakout on my palms when I am under stress.

You are probably correct, but two months seems like a lifetime. I am feeling better today since I started the zyrtec, zantec and doxepine.
