I have Gestational diabetes and my doctor won't discuss letting me birth naturally...?

I've had a previous emergency c-section due to my son having complications from being induced.

I want to avoid another c-section at all costs with this baby, but since I've discovered I had gestational diabetes the doctor said that I had to have a scheduled C-section at 39 weeks.

My son was born 2 days after his due date, and he only weighed 6 pounds 12 ounces. I'm afraid that my daughter will be teeny tiny if born too early even if I do have diabetes. I'm taking insulin 4 times a day and trying to keep my sugar as controlled as possible. Does anyone have any experience, advice, or facts about any of this?

I know that there is a chance I'll have complications vaginally delivering if she's too big... But what if she isn't?

They told me at 36 weeks pregnant with my son that he was 7 pounds and said he was going to be a big baby, and probably over 8 pounds. They were really wrong about that because he wasn't even 7 pounds at 40 weeks.
Ok, just so people on here don't start giving me more ridiculous answers about me saying "at all costs" meanin that I'd prefer my baby to die. That's absurd and the fact someone would even think that I would have meant that by saying at all costs is stupid.

By all costs- meaning I'm not going to say its ok to having a c-section just because they don't want to bother waiting to see if I need one or not.
And I had a previous induction with my first baby because the doctor said at 36 weeks that my son was 7 pounds and would be huge if I waited much longer past my due date. Those were the only other medical reasons for the induction for my first-which ended in a c-section- and they were terribly wrong about my son's weight back then too... So how can they force me to get a c-section a week early just because they think the baby "might have a chance at being over 9 pounds 15 ounces". Which I seriously doubt.
I'm getting sad because even on here nobody is listening to what I meant with this question... Let me rephrase...

"I understand there are situations that arrive when you need to have a c-section, and I trust my doctor to an extent that my baby will arrive safetly because he will take care of me like he did with my son, BUT rather than him closing off all my birthing options and saying that he will only do a c-section because of gestational diabetes- is there any facts or experiences I could use to get him to at least consider all options until I hit 39 weeks...?"
