I have been going the gym for exactly 2 months now as of today and read somewhere i should take a 1 week break every 8-10 weeks. I have seen amazing gains in the past 2 months and gained about 10 pounds all together (All muscle probably a few pounds of water weight too) I just don't want to lose my great gains.. =( So should I take the 1 week break or will it destroy my gains? Also can I run a few miles a day to satisfy my need to do exercise during my 1 week break without breaking down my muscle, also should i continue with taking a lot of protein or cut it down a bit? Thanks in advance everyone =)

i wouldnt really, when you go back to weight training it will hurt a lot more, but if its cardio i guess it wouldnt hurt , just stay in shape

lol, I've been going to the gym 3-5 days a week for the past two years. It's all up to you I guess, if you want to take a break, take a break. I don't think a week will really hurt any gains unless you slack off on your diet. If you just run though and don't really lift, it's possible to lose muscle mass because your body needs to burn muscle/fat for energy. as for helping gains by stopping..highly doubtful.. unless you're on a roid cycle then yeah taking a break could be beneficial.

If you're concerned with water weight, just up your water intake and it'll go. Good luck with deciding what you want to do.
