I have an Xbox 360 arcade, what do I need to get to be able to play online?

I dont have any idea what I need to purchase from bestbuy to be able to get online. All I have is an arcade edition with a harddrive I bought for it. What do I need, and what do I need to do after I get what I need? Be specific.
 
connection to the internet. a hard drive will not mess up a console. seriously though i think all you need is your connection.
 
ok first from personal experience dont use the hard drive on the arcade it messed up mine good and second i used my dsl/cable modem with a ethernet cord from that modem and connected it to my 360 and bam i was online hope this helps:)
