I have an unlocked iphone 3g ..i want to start a new tmobile contract.what do i do now?

I would like to know how to setup an actual plan with another carrier. Can you simply walk in to a T-Mobile store saying i have an unlocked iPhone and would like to setup a plan? Or would they refuse to cooperate?
what plan would i choose from tmobile?
iread that i can just sign up and get a free phone and take tht sim card and put it in the iphone but do i have to have a specific plan ?
 
Dont tell them that.... this is what i did...... when u buy the plan with t mobile dont pay for a phone.... just get a free cheapo phone they offer and then switch the sim card from the cheapo t mobile phone to your iphone.
