boot? or is it a door? a 5 door ( hatchback) will have tow gas struts,expensive items and not cheap in a breakers at approx£10 each. ( barter down ..
if a 'booted' version the spring assist mechanism will hav e failed and best to one from a breaker yard. have a Friend go with You again probably around £20 or so and an hours work.

Not quite sure about your car, but most cars have hydraulic struts these days. If this is the case with yours, you could easily replace them yourself. (Click in one end, couple of screws at the other). Garage will charge you minimum of £80 per hour, or if you're lucky £40 for 1/2 hour.

boot lid damper rods need replacing....get from scrapyard approx £10..........couple of bolts secure them in place
