We have an older RCA tv set - I'd guess it's somewhere between mid 1980's to very early 1990's.
A while back, I plugged my PlayStation into the input jack in my tv, and now the tv only works intermittently. When I power it on, sometimes the screen will flicker on and then quickly turn off. However, other times, the tv will turn on and work like nothing is wrong with it.
I know that I could just replace the tv and be done with it, but the tv still has life in it, (in that the picture was excellent prior to the Playstation incident and that it had no problems then). That, and it's one of those nice, console type tv's, and I'd hate/really don't want to just throw it away.
My guess is that I probably messed up a resistor, and when the resistor gets hot it opens up and breaks the electrical connection. (Or something similar to that.)
Does anyone have an idea as to what the problem could be? And, if I were to take this to a tv repairman, would this type of thing be fixable?
