I have a texting plan with AT&T mobile. Does the AIM app use this, or does it...

...cost money? I would really like to know this, since a buddy of mine does not have my phone number. (The texting limit is 200 texts per month.)
(My phone is a C610, not an iPhone, FYI.)

Smart Phones uses Data Plans for AIM. But normal phones uses text for AIM. Your phone uses text messages, so for every IM on AIM, it uses 1 text message. Do not listen to the poster below because she obviously doesn't know what she is talking about.

AIM, MSN, and Yahoo messengers are used as text messages. Every time you send a message though AIM (even something as simple as LOL), it costs you a text message. Every time you receive one, it also costs you a text message.

Long story short, do not use AIM unless you upgrade to an unlimited texting plan.
