...might land myself in deep. Could a question posted on here possibly be used as evidence by authorities? It's anonymous, but there must be some way they can track down the person who posts questions. I have an issue I'd really like to talk about, but I'm afraid talking about it could land me in some serious trouble. It's not what you think, I didn't hit anyone with my car, I'm not some sexual deviant. I just know something about a crime committed a few years ago, and I don't know what to do about it. I'm not ready to discuss it yet, because I don't know if these questions can be monitored by authorities. So really my question is: Can I get in trouble with the law for something I post on here?
Mahal, if I'm not worth your time, then don't post useless answers just trying to bully and insult me. I have a serious question. If you don't have a serious answer, then go f u c k yourself.

Unless you're talking about a murder, the statute of limitations has probably expired anyway. Here in Washington State, it's 3 years for most non-sexual, non-violent felonies. Your mileage may vary.

What this means is that even if you put a full-page ad in the newspaper with your name, address, phone number and the info, the police still may not be able to prosecute the criminal. If this is so, don't tell anyone anything, just to save your own hide. If in doubt, talk to a lawyer. I am not a lawyer.
