I live in Arizona, and I have some sort of small rodents burrowing in the yard. There are holes here and there, and one chewed on our shed. I don't know what they are, some sort of ratty creatures that are about 3" or 4" long not counting the tail.
I want to do some raised bed gardening, but I'm afraid they'll eat the roots of the plants or the whole plants. I don't want to kill them- I don't want our dogs to find a dead poisoned one and eat it. Also my mother doesn't want us killing animals in her yard.
Any ideas? Is there anything I can put in the soil to make rodents avoid it?
I've seen those things that emit high frequency sounds to scare off rodents, but I've conflicting information on how well they work.
