I have a question for servers and restaurant managers?

I am a busser who quit a restaurant in a bad way leaving the place I had worked for 6 years in bad terms. As a result it has been very hard for me to find anther job because the interviewers always tell me that they will check references with my last manager. It's been two months now and of all the places I have applied none of them have called me again. Now what? I need to pay my bills and the only thing I know how to do great is to bus tables. I know it doesn't sound humble but is the true. It's just that the day I quit I was very upset.
Please help.
 
perhaps you could try reconciling with your old employer ? if possible otherwise find a friend who works in a rewstaurant to lie for you you've probably considered all this. or explain to new employers about the falling out whatever and hope for the best. Sorry not much help
 
if you were out of line and disrespectful at your last job call your GM and apologize. Yeah it sucks but so does being broke. Be sincere and be honest. Accept responsibility for your words and actions and don't leave him any reason to resent you. OR just lie and make up some job and a reason you can't give a number (out of business, etc.) and just skip over the place that you walked out on.

Well if your old manager is giving you a bad reference, then you should stop putting that company on your app. This happened to me too. I didnt put that job on my application, and I got an interview. Then when I actually had the interview, I told him that I had 2 years experience at a restaurant where I just left because my manager was unprofessional. I didn't go into a lot of detail, but he understood and I got better pay because of my experience. Just be real during the interview, but dont talk bad about the company or the ppl that work there. A lot of managers understand these situations bcuz there are a lot of unprofessional places..good luck :)
 
Explain to your future employers that you stuck it out with that company for 6 years, and had personal issues that had built up.
Let them know that if they contact the previous employer, the previous employer might be enthused with you because of these issues.

HOWEVER! NO PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT IS ALLOWED TO GIVE OUT BAD REFERENCES. They could get Hardcore sued for that. Future employers can ask, How long did so and so work here? And for how long? They can not ask, Do you think he was a great busser? Previous Employers can not say you were a bad busser. They can say you showed up for all of your shifts or that your attendance was not spotless.(If you signed something showing you were late / absent only)...but they can not say anything about you as a busser or a person .

The only exception is if you signed something saying it was true. For example, If you cussed out your manager, while on the clock, and you signed the write up (assuming it had not rolled off) they could use that in a reference. If you cussed him out and did not sign a paper acknowledging you did so; you have every right to sue the previous employer for telling future employers you did.

What the previous employer is doing is highly illegal.

Sorry if i cant help you more than this answer

I think when u apply the job just say that you`ve been worked before. But u cant get the references for some problem. But make sure them that you are good guy and they can trust you. Also mention that you`ll be ready anytime they ask you for the test.

capability someone not based on paper . .
