I live in Mississippi and in 2006 I needed a blood transfusion (4 pints). I applied for financial assistance then and they told me I didn't qualify. My bill was almost 13,000 for less than a day at the hospital. No dependents and hourly wage was about a dollar above minimum at the time. Hospital wanted 150 a month I tried paying that but couldn't and did $50 a month. I got the bill down to $ 11000 but Because of bigger bills I couldn't pay that so I stopped paying early last year. I just received a phone call telling me that they're about to file suit. My disposable income or income after taxes is $940 per month or 470 every two weeks. Will the judge consider my total income when making a judgment I was told they can take 25% of disposable income. Is that a unilateral decision or can the judge make an order for less than that based on my income. That $200 is grocery money
Even by taking the full amount of 200 its going to take about five years of garnishment to pay it off.
Anyone who has been through or knows about this can you please respond
