i have a question about sharp pain shooting threw your head?

okay my step dad gets head aces ALOT, anyways he takes pills that the dr. told him to take to clam him down and high blood pressure pills... well lately he been getting sharp pains in his head.. what could it mean? why is this happening? and what can he do to get it to stop?? he has a easy job and no stress that i know of. so if anyone can help please and thank you
