I have a question about ringtones on the verizon wireless rival?

I have a rival and every time i get new ring tone that some one sends me or from phone zoo, it wont let me set it as anything..i say unable to set. does anybody know why it does this? how can i fix it??
Some one said venttones..how do u do that and what is it
