I have a prepaid samsung intensity with verizon and I cant use aim?

Does anyone know why? I have the $20 bundle of unlimited texting but I also have 10 dollars for calls but when I want to sign into aim it says that prepay customers cant use it and with my other verizon phone it was prepaid and I could use it?
