...possibly replacing the engine? Im looking for people who have street fightered either a Z550 , a z550ltd, gt550 or similar.
As i would like to know any improovements i can add to my kawasaki gt550 . Here is a list of things i would like to replace:
-Front braking system.I dont like the current standard system as its a pain to work with. You need lever bars to get the pads out, then lever it again to split the mounting bracket off the calipier- just to replace the pads. The pistons dont move out evenly on both calipers and they dont float properly on the brackets. Although my bike passed its mot, it lacks the ability to stop the vehicle at speed in an emergancy.
-Forks and suspension . The bike wallows and the back end seems to bottom out easily on pot holes . making for a sharp thud. The suspension units seem to be working ok, and damping correctly, but im not convinced
- Engine. The engine is fine at the moment but im toying with the idea of using a gpz600r engine, and replacing the gearbox with the gt550 one.why?, well its water cooled and i think therefor more suited to touring and long life.
