I have a Jazz Band audition tomorrow and I need help? Swing scales and straight scales?

Tomorrow I have an audition for my school's Jazz Band and I have a question:
- what is a swing scale? I know that the pattern is 1 &2 &3 &4 but I don't exactly know what that means. can someone elaborate?
