Ok, so I know that SAT scores (A.K.A. the "unprofitable" organized test that requires you lose so much $), GPA, extra-curricular activities, etc. are all counted towards the admission process. Plus the essay. But, does visiting the college and talking with the admission people there and signing up for all the online e-mails for a college help as well. Like, my dad call it "putting your name down". Is this true or does "putting your name down" just literally put your name down and they throw it away if you don't quite have all the other Chit.
The colleges I am trying to get into are Penn State and Syracuse. I have all-out-chit SAT scores (CR: 510 M:590 W:550) Composite 1650.
