I can tell you that the new ones are excellent vehicles. Mitsubishi have a long tradition of being an affordable high end vehicle. You will hear more about the Evolution because is the best deal in the world as far as an affordable super car can be. The eclipse is less talk about because is not really that affordable, but is a great car. You do need to know the vehicles before you decide on getting one since is not a cheap vehicle if you plan to upgrade parts in it, but as far as maintenance goes they are care free, simple oil changes as recommended in the owners manual, change belts as required, and driving it accordingly will last you a very very long time. If you get an all wheel drive version changing the oil in the transmission as require will also help, and never try to take off as if it was a two wheel vehicle at least for the old versions prior to 2000 because you will damage the transmission, as a matter of fact this applies to all ALL WHEEL drive vehicles that do not have a launch mode.
