why I need one? Help? Look I want to get a few things of my chest, and would like to see a therapist but today when I asked one of my parent about it, they began questioning why I needed to see one. I want to discuss some things that I don' feel comfortable with talking to my parents about! and I want professional advice that I believe will help me more than my parents would be able to do.

How do I convince them to help me get into see one.

I went to one a few years back and it helped quite a bit.

That seems like a perfect reason to me . Just tell to your parents that you have a few things to get off yoyr chest , and don't feel comfortable telling them. Say its nothing personal or againist them . Tell them that when you went last time it helped you . Add in that professinal advice will help you more . Just say what you explainded to Yahoo Answers and I think they will understand .

IDK how old you are? However if you have previously seen a Therapist then I can't understand why yr parent/s are questioning yr need now? Explain there are some 'issues' you wish to discuss with a 3rd party & need a confidential discussion & would appreciate their support.

Ask @ a relatively quiet time in yr house when you can have yr parents undivided attention, you may find they are more supportive. Perhaps refer back to when you visited a Therapist a few yrs back & explain it helped immensely. If they are still apprehensive, do you have access to a school counsellor? Good luck.
