...swimming upside down? It's weird because he will swim around the whole tank upside down, and then go back into his hiding spot and he will flip back over on to his other side, why is he swimming upside down when he leaves his hiding place? could it be his breed or a sickness? help!

I think your fish is a Plecostomus, and no...swimming upside down isn't normal. If he's sucking on something & he's upside down, that's pretty normal. But, swimming upside down sounds like he's disoriented. Do you see anything strange on his skin?

I'd probably have to agree with Vegan above me; there is a species called an "Upsidedown Catfish". It's completely normal, assuming that is what it is.

plecostimus are kinda funny truthfully, we have two 13 inch plecostimus in our largest tank, it's gotten to the point where algae no longer keeps them healthy enough, so i've gone to giving them pellets and algae pellets when i feed them they dcome out as well and swim upside down to eat, otherwise they go back to their hiding places. so the majour question is how much algae is on your tank and how big is the fish?
