I was recently in a small car accident (rear ending) which was my fault. At the scene, the person I hit claimed that there was no damage to their car. (They also admitted that the car they were driving did not belong to them.) We still traded phone numbers, and a few days later they phoned me to let me know how much the damage would cost. Am i required to pay for their damage even though they claimed at the time that there wasn't any?
